Hemel Rotary Santa Sleigh

Presentation to Santa’s helpers

Santa returned to Hemel Hempstead in January to thank the representatives of the 25 local community groups and charities who helped Hemel Rotary with their Santa Sleigh street by street routes.  Each of them received £350 (financed by the Street Collections) at an event held in Leverstock Green Cricket Club, and attended by The Mayor, Councillor William Allen.

Hemel Rotary collected just over £17,500 from their 35 Static & Street events with the Santa Sleigh.  Thanks to all those who gave us donations.

Local children in Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley and Abbots Langley were delighted to meet Santa Claus or Mrs Claus or, in some cases, both.

Another presentation of funds will take place in April when Hemel Rotary will then make donations (financed by the Static Collections) to about 25 other local charities.

2023 was the 8th year of our Hemel Rotary Santa Sleigh.  Bringing joy to the children (and adults) of Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley and Abbots Langley.

25 street by street routes were undertaken last year between 25th November and 23rd December as well as a number of static collections giving children the opportunity to have their photograph taken with Santa or indeed Mrs Claus.

Once again, we are extremely grateful to our collector organisations who helped each street by street routes and our Friends of Rotary who assist with the Static collections.

Our Santa Sleigh activity raised £17,500 to donate back to the local community.

Donations of £350 have now been made to each of our collector organisations and this will be followed by further donations to about 25 local groups and organisations in April (see Beneficiaries).

We are always looking for helpers during our very active Christmas season.  Especially with our static collections.

So if you feel you could assist by doing a shift at a static collection, being a Santa or Mrs Claus or if you have a tow bar on your car and fancy towing the sleigh. Please contact us.
